The De Beers International Institute of Diamond Grading & Research, located in India’s diamond city Surat, leads the way in maintaining consumer confidence in diamonds. We travelled 150 miles up north of Mumbai for De Beers in-house magazine ‘Pursuit’ and visited their newest laboratory for the latest cover story. The strict work etiquette for the employees and vast amount of CCTV in place means nothing is left unchecked. London’s CCTV systems suddenly seemed very conservative and out of date.
